Comprehensive Tune-up / $75 + Parts ($100 value in per item labor charges)
When your bike has sustained a significant amount of use (shifting system no longer works as easily as it used to, harder to brake, the drivetrain no longer feels smooth, etc.) or has sat unused for long period then it’s time for our Comprehensive Tune-up. Our seasoned service techs (we average 24 years of experience per technician) will go over the entire bike. All load bearing surfaces will be checked to be free moving, smooth and free from lateral play and adjusted if necessary. The braking surfaces on the rims as well as the frame (so we can inspect it for damage) will be cleaned and the brake pads filed to a fresh surface or replaced if past the wear indicator. The shifting system will be properly limited and indexed. Any control cables with function inhibiting friction or damaged housing will be replaced. The wheels will be aligned and brakes centered. Tire wear and damage will be checked. Drivetrain wear will be checked. If the chain is worn to the point of needing replacement (before it starts to damage the rest of the drivetrain), we will replace it ( and test ride the bike to ensure no skipping of the chain under load due to worn rear cogs or front chainrings. Whew! After that, your bike is ready for a full season of use.
Deluxe Tune-up/ $150 + Parts ($225 value in per item labor charges)
To get the biggest improvement in the functionality of a bicycle that has seen a lot of use, you need to replace all of the brake and derailleur cables and housings. This will bring the shifting and braking performance back up to “like new” and will startle you with the difference (the slow degradation of the cables and the housing liners is pretty hard to notice from ride to ride). Our Deluxe Tune not only covers the labor for the cable and housing replacement, but also includes a full Comp Tune, a full drivetrain clean in our industrial aqueous solution parts washer, a thorough frame cleaning and new chain installation and re-taping handlebars.
Overhaul Tune-up/ $200 ($325-$365 in per item labor charges)
Bring your trusty steed back to as close to new condition as possible with our Overhaul Tune. All of the work of the two lower level tunes plus a bottom bracket overhaul and a headset overhaul on every bike. In addition, we will refurbish/overhaul brake calipers (new fluid and bleed brakes in the case of a disc brake bike) as necessary. We will also overhaul hubs as necessary and will service the freehub body on any bike with a serviceable freehub. Since every part will be removed from the frame we will do a detailed frame cleaning and finish up with a coating of Pedro’s Bike Lust.
